French artist Edgar Degas' bronze sculpture called "The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer" is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Degas exhibited the original version of this sculpture at the Sixth Impressionist Exhibition in 1881. The artwork's model was a ballet student in the Paris Opera named Marie van Goethem. The sculpture was modeled ca. 1880, cast in 1922 in bronze, partially tinted, with cotton skirt and satin hair ribbon. (information from the exhibit caption).
