Happy New Year!

This is a collage of different images of the 2008 Times Square Centennial New Year’s Eve Ball as it constantly transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors. The Ball was displayed at the Times Square Information Center. The LED lights can create a myriad of colors for a kaleidoscope of hues against the Waterford Crystal triangles.

A New York Townhouse Christmas Dinner Party

Henri Bendel's window display this year features "Hirschfeld Spectacular". The Fifth Avenue boutique collaborated with Margo Feiden Galleries to create a 3-D tribute to the late line artist Al Hirschfeld, known for his renderings of celebrities spanning a 75-year career. This display imagines a New York townhouse Christmas dinner party with Marilyn Monroe, Sarah Jessica Parker, Liza Minnelli, Woody Allen, Whoopi Goldberg and Audrey Hepburn.

Radio City Music Hall Christmas

The Radio City Music Hall is the venue for one of the grandest holiday tradition in the city, the Radio City Christmas Speactacular. The annual musical holiday stage show showcases the Rockettes and other performers, lavish sets and costumes and an original musical score. The area surrounding the Radio City Hall is always crowded during the holidays because of locals and tourists visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and the Christmas displays on Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

Manhattan Sidewalk Christmas Tree Vendors

Soon after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas tree vendors set up shop on the sidewalks. Most of the seasonal vendors are from Canada who come to New York during the Christmas season to sell Christmas trees and wreaths. The trees fill the streets with the scent of pine and brings a little cheer to the neighborhood. This one is located at the corner of First Avenue and 71st Street.

Cartier Fifth Avenue's Red Bow and Ribbon

The flagship store of the upscale jeweler, Cartier, is again adorned for the holidays with a red bow and ribbons that wrap up the elegant building at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street. since 1979. The display featuring thousands of LED lights is designed by the Metropolis Group of Companies in London, England. On the left is Salvatore Ferragamo.

The Museum of Modern Art has a flagship store within the Museum building that features art reproductions, design objects, and books, as well as exclusive items for the whole family, developed and produced by MoMA. It is located at West 53rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. The other MoMA design stores are located across the museum and in SoHO.

New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show - Model Trains and Botanical Architecture

One of New York's popular family holiday traditions is the New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show. It features model trains running along a half-mile of track in and around New York landmark buildings and bridges constructed entirely of plant materials including nuts, tree bark, fruits, pine cones, and leaves. The display is being held at the historic, Victorian-era Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. The botanical architecture includes replicas of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the original Yankee Stadium, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge, among others. The Holiday Train Show runs through January 12, 2014.

Empire State Building Shines For Nelson Mandela

The Empire State Building tower lights up with blue, red, yellow and green, the colors of South Africa's flag to honor the memory of Nelson Mandela. An anti apartheid icon, Mandela died Thursday at age 95. He was South Africa's first black president. He first visited New York in 1990.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

In a ceremony that has been held yearly since 1933, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was illuminated on Wednesday night. The 76-foot Norway Spruce is a world-wide symbol of the Christmas season in New York City, and it attracts thousands of tourists and locals alike. Both the skating rink and the official photo op at Rockefeller Center's Channel Gardens have also become popular places where couples get engaged.
