Radio City Music Hall Christmas

The Radio City Music Hall is the venue for one of the grandest holiday tradition in the city, the Radio City Christmas Speactacular. The annual musical holiday stage show showcases the Rockettes and other performers, lavish sets and costumes and an original musical score. The area surrounding the Radio City Hall is always crowded during the holidays because of locals and tourists visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and the Christmas displays on Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas (Already) At Radio City Music Hall

This photo of Radio City Music Hall was taken earlier today. This is the home of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, an annual Christmas stage musical that kicks off next week. Produced by Madison Square Garden Entertainment, the show features the women's precision dance team called The Rockettes as well as  Santa, the Nutcracker, and the unforgettable Living Nativity. The show has been a New York Christmas tradition since 1933.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular Celebrating 85 Years of the Rockettes

This year's Radio City Christmas Spectacular marks a milestone for the Rockettes. It's the 85th year celebration of the Rockettes. The 90-minute show at the Radio City Music Hall features dazzling dance numbers, beloved favorites, breathtaking 3-D special effects, awesome projections and a brand new showcase featuring the evolution of the Rockettes' most extraordinary costumes through the years. My personal favorite is the Parade of the Wooden Soldiers shown in the youtube video. The show runs through December 30 at Radio City Music Hall

ZARKANA from Cirque Du Soleil Returns to Radio City Music Hall

Zarkana, the surreal acrobatic spectacle from Cirque du Soleil, has returned to New York. It began performances on June 6 at the legendary Radio City Music Hall for a limited engagement through September 2 only. Written and directed by François Girard, Zarkana, is an acrobatic spectacle that blends circus arts with the surreal to create a world where physical virtuosity rubs shoulders with the bizarre. Zarkana is a visual vortex set in a slightly twisted fantasy universe where, little by little, chaos and craziness give way to festivity and love regained. The diverse cast of more than 75 international artists transports the audience into a world of fantasy and suspense, blurring the line between reality and imaginary. Street team/flyer distributers for Zarkana have been spotted in different parts of the Manhattan like Herald Square where the photos above were taken.

Charlie Sheen: Winning In New York's Radio City Music Hall?

Charlie Sheen performed last night at Radio City Music Hall in his first of two sold-out (?) shows in New York called "My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not An Option Tour." Born in New York City, the actor is known for his role in films such as "Platoon" and "Wall Street', and in the hit television show "Two and a Half Men." Mr. Sheen's personal life has recently made headlines, including reports about alcohol and drug abuse, marital problems, allegations of domestic violence, and getting fired by CBS from his television show. According to published reports, the reviews were mixed. Eric Stangel of The Late Show with David Letterman was quoted saying, "he had the crowd, he lost the crowd, he ripped off the crowd." What were the ticket buyers expecting?

NY Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes kicking off the 2009 Christmas Spectacular

Earlier this afternoon, the ROCKETTES, SANTA CLAUS, and the NY GIANTS kicker LAWRENCE TYNES officially kicked off (literally) the 2009 Radio City Christmas Spectacular on 6th Avenue, in front of the Radio City Music Hall. Traffic was stopped on 6th Avenue for the event. Special guest was NY Giants kicker, Lawrence Tynes. The Rockettes performed a special number to the delight of a big crowd on 6th Avenue. The event concluded with the creation of NY's longest kick line, creating a truly impressive "line-up" on Sixth Avenue, complete with snow (fake, of course).
