On display at the MUSEUM OF MODERN ART is Ingo Maurer's "Porca Miseria! Chandelier" (1994). This piece is made of metal and porcelain, 59 x 43 1/4" (h. 150 x 110 cm) and manufactured by Ingo Maurer GmbH in Germany. It is a revolt against the slickness of contemporary design, and a celebration of cinematic slow-motion explosions. The builders break plates with a hammer or simply drop them on the floor. The pieces, broken arbitrarily, determine the arrangement of the final design. INGO MAURER is a German artist, born in 1932.
