Barney's Madison Avenue Holiday windows take on a "Have A Happy Foodie Holiday" theme this year, in partnership with the Food Network. The legendary holiday window displays are inspired by the extraordinary popularity of foodie culture and personalities. Barneys’ Creative Director Simon Doonan captured this phenomenon in pop culture with windows he called: “The Bad Boys,” “The Gals,” “Revolutionary Stew” and “Miss Illy” (pictured above). "Miss Illy" features a voluminous modern diva bursting out of her coffee tin dress. According to fashionwindows.net, Miss Illy is made of 300 three-kilo illy tins, 250 foil bags (former home to illy’s single-serve iperEspresso capsules) and 250 8.8-oz. illy cans. She wears an espresso machine headpiece (ahem, illy’s Francis Francis X1 iperEspresso machine), a coffee scoop-turned earring and a garland fashioned from 300 paper cups.

BARNEY'S New York Dedicates Window Displays to IMAN
Fashion model, actress and entrepreneur, IMAN will be honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America with the Fashion Icon Award on June 7 at Lincoln Center. To celebrate the honor, Simon Doonan, creative director of BARNEY'S New York installed a window display tribute to IMAN. The windows feature a Bruce Weber portrait of the fashion icon, quotes about her from artists and style personalities, photographs and collages.
Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Iman is the daughter of Marian and Mohamed Abdulmajid, a former Somali ambassador to Saudi Arabia. She is a supermodel and a muse for many fashion designers, an occasional actress, and an entrepreneur. She is active in several charities. Married to British musician, David Bowie, Iman and her family reside primarily in Manhattan and London.

FIRST LADIES Portraits by LAURIE MUNN at BARNEY'S WINDOWS

Just a few days before the presidential election, I took these photos of the new window display at BARNEY'S featuring portraits of 43 American First Ladies, including prospective First Ladies, MICHELLE OBAMA and CINDY McCAIN. The portraits were painted by the artist LAURIE MUNN. The portraits of the two first lady hopefuls created some "controversy" and speculation about the political leaning of Barney's and its creative director. In the portraits, MICHELLE OBAMA is smiling with soft features and good lighting, while CINDY McCAIN's portrait is not flattering, with sharp angles, and she is depicted looking to the side. You decide.
