The Apple flagship store on Fifth Avenue is open 24 hours a day making it truly one of the most unique computer stores in the city. The store has become a favorite destination for New Yorkers and people around the world. It is always crowded during the day and I find it most convenient to shop at this store late at night. One of the most photographed structures in NYC, the store's signature glass cube was created by designers Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and structural engineers Eckersly O'Callahan (glass elements). The 32-foot structural glass cube marking the store's entrance makes a bold architectural statement, and easily entices plaza level passersby down to the store's underground main level.

The 5th Most Photographed Place in New York City
The Apple Store Fifth Avenue is open 24/7
Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson for Apple Inc., the innovative glass spiral staircase brings shoppers and visitors underground beneath the unmistakeable glass cube to a massive store of Apple computers, iPhones, iPods, and accessories.
"The Plaza" in the background
The Apple Store Fifth Avenue boasts the largest staff (in brightly colored t-shirts) of any Apple Store, with nearly 300 highly trained Mac Specialists, Mac Geniuses and Creatives who offer free tips and tricks on photography, movies and music to make creative projects come to life.
Recently, a research was conducted by a group of computer scientists at Cornell University to analyze geotags on 35 million photos on the photo-sharing webiste, Flickr. The research generated global and city maps. According to their findings, New York City is the most photographed city on Earth. Curiously, the APPLE FLAGSHIP STORE on Fifth Avenue is the fifth-most photographed place in the city. The most photographed sites in New York City are:
1. Empire State Building
2. Times Square
3. Rockefeller Center
4. Grand Central Terminal
5. Apple Store on Fifth Avenue
6. Columbus Circle
7. Liberty Island
The research also generated statistics on the world's most photographed cities and landmarks, gleaned from the analysis of the multi-terabyte photo collection: the top 25 most photographed cities in the Flickr data are (in order): New York City, London, San Francisco, Paris, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Rome, Amsterdam, Boston, Barcelona, San Diego, Berlin, Las Vegas, Florence, Toronto, Milan, Vancouver, Madrid, Venice, Philadelphia, Austin, Dublin and Portland.
Above are some of the images of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue that I took on several occasions.

NYC hearts MAC
This is a night time capture of the new Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in the city that never sleeps. The underground store features a distinctive 32-foot glass cube entrance which sits atop the public plaza in front of the General Motors building across from the Plaza Hotel and Bergdorf Goodman on 767 Fifth Avenue between 58th and 59th Streets, just steps away from the entrance to Central Park. All that is visible of the store from the street is its glass cube entrance. The cube contains no structural steel and instead relies on a system of glass beams and stainless-steel fittings. The design received a Business Week/Architectural Record Award in 2006.The glass cube provides wall-to-wall natural sunlight to the 10,000-square-foot store. The glass staircase spirals down the center of the cube onto the floor of the store. The building was innovatively designed by the architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. The store is the first and only Apple store that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. There are friendly and trained staff members who are available 24 hours a day to provide free face-to-face customer support on the store floor and along the combined 45-foot "Genius Bar," "iPod Bar" and "The Studio." Just like the Apple store in SOHO, the Fifth Avenue store offers free workshops and events on topics ranging from getting started to using the iPod, iPhone, iTunes, and iPhoto. Below is a video tour of the Fifth Avenue and SOHO stores in NYC, from "thecreativeone."
