SantaCon New York 2011 (North Cove Marina and South Street Seaport)

Santa needs his rest (and booze) before heading Uptown

SantaCon painted the town red and white today as hundreds of revelers dressed in Santa (and other characters) gathered for their annual party and photo op. The participants amassed at the North Cove Marina behind the World Financial Center at around 10 AM this morning and proceeded to the South Street Seaport. Some participants brought non-perishable food to be donated to the Food Bank of NYC. According to its website, "Santacon is a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year for absolutely no reason." While many tourists and locals are delighted to see hundreds of Santas on the streets of Manhattan, some parents find it difficult to explain to their young kids why some Santas are drunk and loud.
