The new 2nd Ave Deli (Second Avenue Deli), Kosher Restaurant and Caterers opened a second location today at 1442 First Avenue on the southeast corner of 75th Street. The 2nd Ave Deli is home to the finest Jewish culinary creations in Manhattan. The delicatessen was founded by Abe Lebewohl, a Holocaust survivor in 1954 on the southeast corner of Second Avenue and East 10th Street in the East Village. The deli closed briefly after Abe Lebewohl was murdered in 1996. In the fall of 2007, the deli reopened at a new location at 162 East 63rd Street (between Lexington and Third Avenues). The deli's specialties include matzoh-ball soup, corned beef, pastrami, knishes, gefilte fish, cholent and other notables of Jewish cuisine.
