JORIS LAARMAN's "Bone Chair" (2006) is part of the Museum of Modern Art's ongoing exhibit called ACTION! DESIGN OVER TIME at the Architecture and Design Galleries (Third Floor). It is considered an example of transfer of design from the natural world to a man-made object, based on the generative process of bone development. As bones grow, areas exposed to high stress develop the most mass, for strength. This piece is made of aluminum and is manufactured by the Joris Laarman Studio in the Netherlands.
