Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks

New Yorkers and tourists lined the Hudson River and filled rooftops along the waterfront last night to celebrate the U.S. Independence Day with the annual Macy's Fourth of July fireworks display. More than 40,000 fireworks lit up the sky over the Hudson River set to music directed by Grammy Award-winning recording artist, Usher. The event also featured a light show on the Empire State Building. These photos didn't do justice to the dazzling fireworks, and were taken from the Top of the Rock Observation Deck.

Happy Fourth of July

Independence Day honors the birthday of the United States of America and the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It's a day of patriotic parades, barbecues, a night of concerts and fireworks, and a reason to fly the American flag. Photos above were taken at Rockefeller Center and Grand Central (Holiday Kaleidoscople Light Show). Today also marks the reopening of the crown of the Statue of Liberty, the symbol of freedom, since it closed after September 11, 2001.
