Fashion's Night Out is an evening of events and sales in stores open after-hours to the public throughout New York City. The goals of this annual event are to celebrate fashion and shopping, restore consumer confidence, and boost the fashion industry’s economy. Fashion's Night Out is the brain child of Anna Wintour (American Vogue), the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and NYC & Company, and the City of New York. It is an after-hours shopping extravaganza that was started in 2009 in New York to lure shoppers during the recession. Some stores collaborate with singers or fashion icons to perform at the store or to meet and greet shoppers. Other stores offer some great discounts in hopes of luring shoppers into their stores. Though Fashion's Night Out originated in New York, there are Fashion's Night Out events all over the country and in other foreign cities including Paris, Milan, and Adelaide.

Presidents' Day

In celebration of Presidents' Day, American flags are flown at the Rockefeller Plaza, while political bandannas are part of Bergdorf Goodman's window display. Presidents' Day grew out of celebrations of the birthdays of both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, both of whom were born in February. The federal holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of February.
