Brooklyn's Dyker Heights Home Christmas Light Displays

Fifth Avenue, forget about it. Dyker Heights, an Italian-American neighborhood in Brooklyn has become a popular tourist attraction during the Christmas season for its elaborate light displays. In this residential neighborhood, locals decorate their homes in gaudy Christmas lights and fill their front yards with life-size Santas, Nativity scenes and other figures associated with Christmas. Many of the elaborate Christmas light displays are done professionally. The over-the-top light displays are mostly concentrated in the area between 80th and 86th Streets and 10th and 13th Avenues. Tony Muia offers Christmas Lights & Cannoli Tour of Dyker Heights. The bus leaves from Manhattan's Union Square on select nights through the end of December, and includes a stop at Mona Lisa Pastry Shop & Cafe for a cannoli and cappuccino.
