The Easter Parade/Festival on Fifth Avenue has been an annual tradition in New York. This morning, I took photos of some of my favorite bonnets/costumes. Unlike most New York City Parades, the Easter Parade is a far less organized event, without floats or marching bands. It is a great spectacle, nonetheless. The section of Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets was closed to vehicular traffic from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for this colorful event.
fun, crazy hats! :D
ReplyDeletewhy were there protesters?
they were protesting in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral on the issue of the Catholic church's culpability in child sex abuse by priests.
ReplyDeleteSo many great shots!
ReplyDeleteI love the hats! Was this a fashion show?
ReplyDeleteIt's not a fashion show. It's just an unorganized parade of people in their Easter hats. Anyone can participate. Anything goes. Kids, adults, dogs, drag queens wearing all kinds of "hats."
ReplyDeleteI was there too!!
ReplyDeleteWasn't it so much fun :)
Loved it
