United Hispanic Day Parade and Festival

The colorful United Hispanic Day Parade was held last Sunday on Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street. The festival is a showcase for hispanic solidarity, and encourages the traditional values, music, costumes, and folklore of each participating country. There was an impressive number of community contingencies (52 different Hispanic organizations), floats, marching bands and musical groups which provided a festive and lively mood to the parade.
Since 1964, the Hispanic Day Parade in New York City is being held on the Sunday before Columbus Day.
