CHERIE GIL

It was a treat to meet Filipino movie actress CHERIE GIL outside the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre after the first preview performance of "A Steady Rain" starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig last September 10.
Cherie Gil is one of the finest actresses in the Philippines and is acknowledged as one of the best villainess in Filipino movies. She is the daughter of Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, and sister to award-winning actors Michael de Mesa and Mark Gil. She is probably best known for her role as Lavinia in Bituing Walang Ningning, where she uttered that memorable line--”You're nothing but a second-rate, trying-hard copycat!" She recently appeared on stage as Sister Aloysius in Atlantis Productions' staging of Doubt, the Pulitzer, Tony and Drama Desk award-winning play by John Patrick Shanley. The play was staged at the RCBC Theater in Makati City, Philippines. Ms. Gil's career has spanned 35 years of fine, first-rate performances on stage and screen.
