New York City is the site of ancient earth-shaking and earth-shaping events. The island of Manhattan is built on strong metamorphic rock known as Manhattan Schist. In Central Park, outcrops of Manhattan Schist occur, such as the one shown above. It is also a popular site for visitors to relax and take selfies with the skyline in the background.

Jefferson Market Library
The Jefferson Market Public Library is located at 425 Avenue of the Americas (at 10th St.) in Greenwich Village. It is part of the New York Public Library. The Victorian Gothic style building was designed by Frederick Clark Withers and Calvert Vaux (who also assisted in the design of Central Park) and was built during 1875-1877.

Jogging Trail Around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park
The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservoir is surrounded by a 1.58 mile jogging trail in Central Park. Many famous people have jogged here including former President Bill Clinton, Madonna and Jackie Onassis. The reservoir situated between 86th and 96th Street, and the main entrance to the reservoir is on Fifth Avenue and the 90th Street.
