New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show - Model Trains and Botanical Architecture
One of New York's popular family holiday traditions is the New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show. It features model trains running along a half-mile of track in and around New York landmark buildings and bridges constructed entirely of plant materials including nuts, tree bark, fruits, pine cones, and leaves. The display is being held at the historic, Victorian-era Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. The botanical architecture includes replicas of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the original Yankee Stadium, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge, among others. The Holiday Train Show runs through January 12, 2014.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
In a ceremony that has been held yearly since 1933, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was illuminated on Wednesday night. The 76-foot Norway Spruce is a world-wide symbol of the Christmas season in New York City, and it attracts thousands of tourists and locals alike. Both the skating rink and the official photo op at Rockefeller Center's Channel Gardens have also become popular places where couples get engaged.

"9" Sculpture on the Sidewalk
The giant red sculpture of the digit 9 is a prominent Manhattan landmark in front of the office tower located at 9 West 57th Street in midtown Manhattan. This famous New York sculpture was designed by graphic artist Ivan Chermayeff. The sculpture sits on the sidewalk on city property and marks the building's main entrance. The sculpture is fabricated out of half-inch steel plate weighing three tons. During the holiday season, the sidewalk where 9 sits becomes more festive because of all the lights and giant candy cane decorations on the office tower.
