Contemporary Artist TED MIKULSKI's Free Art Project

Contemporary artist, Ted Mikulski is currently having his solo art exhibition at the Dorian Grey Gallery located at 437 East 9th Street. Prior to his debut exhibition, he launched a unique promotional campaign called "Free Art Project" in which he gave away 1,040 pieces of art for free in 10 different locations in Manhattan including Astor Place, Union Square (photo above), Times Square, the Flatiron District and on Fifth Avenue  near the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He tweeted his followers the location where he would stand with a sign that says "Free Art (seriously)" with his wonderful pieces to give away. Silvercup Studios

Silvercup Studios is New York City's largest full-service film and television production facility. It is located in Long Island City in Queens. The studio complex has been operating since 1983 in the former Silvercup Bakery building. It is owned and operated by brothers Alan and Stuart Suna. Silvercup Main lot features 13 studios up to 18,000 ft2. Silvercup East lot features six studios, five with approximately 16,000 ft2 of space, one with 9,400 ft2 of space, all with grid heights of 28 ft. Fifth Annual "Summer Streets" 2012


Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City's streets. During this event, nearly seven miles of Manhattan streets are closed to vehicular traffic and open for everyone to play, run, walk and bike. The event takes place on three consecutive Saturdays (August 4, 11 and 18) from 7 AM to 1 PM. This year's event features rock climbing at Spring Street, free bike helmet at 51st Street, a zip line at Foley Square, dance and exercise lessons, and of course, a pleasant, car-free stroll along Park Avenue from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park. There are also art installations and free food and beverage samples in a couple of rest stops. This event is free.

"Alighiero Boetti: Game Plan" at the Marron Atrium of the Museum of Modern Art

On view at the Marron Atrium of the Museum of Modern Art are artworks by Italian artist Alighiero Boetti including woven wool-and-cotton kilims. The exhibit runs through October 1.
